Salon wash stations Custom commercial cabinets, built in San Jose

A run of wood-grain wall cabinets over dark base cabinets, built around a salon’s shampoo bowls and the plumbing behind them.

The whole job

Storage for a wall that works all day.

This salon needed cabinets along its wash-station wall: closed storage overhead, and base cabinets that leave room for the shampoo bowls, the chairs and the plumbing that feeds them.

We built both runs in our San Jose shop. The photographs show the cabinets going in, and the same wall once the salon was using it.

01Top cabinets

Wood-grain wall cabinets, with nothing to catch a sleeve.

Flat-panel doors run the length of the wall in a light wood-grain finish. There are no handles on the doors, so nothing catches a sleeve or a towel in a room where people are moving all day.

The cabinets hang as one level line above the counter, and hold the supplies that do not need to be out.

02Bottom cabinets and installation

Dark base cabinets, set before the bowls went in.

The wall cabinets went up first. The base cabinets followed, finished in a dark matte and set on their own platform.

An opening is cut where the plumbing comes through, so the supply lines stay reachable behind the finished cabinet. The counter and the wash equipment came after.
